Recently, there has been some minor confusion on how the annual VOS Performance Awards are selected. To assist in the clarification, here are our guidelines used for selection of this annual award.

  1. 100 Performance plaques can be awarded annually.
  2. The Top 50 reporters will automatically qualify.
  3. The remaining plaques will be fair shared out for PMO determination.
  4. The VOS League results will not be a consideration factor for performance plaque determination as these reports are not program-wide inclusive.
  5. No ships with Automated Weather Stations (AWS) will be considered for this award.
  6. Manual reporting NOAA Corps ships may be considered for this award.

We will be implementing other appreciation type awards this coming year for those ships who do not make the bar, but still have done well in their support of the VOS program. I hope this helps all ships fully understand our efforts at keeping this award a special honor to truly thank and appreciate the dedicated efforts of ALL our Great VOS reporting ships.
